Are You There Reader? It's Me, Alison.

Well, here I go. I'm not sure what goes into a first blog post, so bear with me. I want to use The House That Blume Built to share my reading world - my likes, my dislikes, my favorites, my . . . other things.

I love books, I read a lot, and I share what I read a lot, so I thought a blog was the best way to keep doing that while reaching more people than just the friends and family I force to listen to me, or the students who hang on my every bookish word because they believe me to be cool and edgy. They also think I have the best read out loud voice. It's the perfect blend of 90s angst and 00s apathy.

Should I say here that I mostly read middle grade and YA? I mostly read middle grade and YA, so if that isn't your jam, or your bailiwick then this might not be the perfect place for you, but I hope you'll maybe give it a try and stay for a while. If that is your jam then tuck in and enjoy me, agree with me, disagree with me, yell at me, tell me what to read next, or tell me whatever you like.

The title of the blog should speak for itself. I grew up before the altar of Blume, and I can't even begin to describe how she was a combination of super cool friend and unabashedly honest teacher. Finally, Sheila Tubman remains one of my best fictional friends, and I'm still waiting for a sequel.
